Loose watercolor background with Rowena

Hi friends!! It’s Rowena here I’m back with a simple card using ‘ You are Awesome‘ and ‘Spread Your Wings‘ stamps.

For my card today, I wanted to create a card using my favorite technique…a loose blended watercolor background!! It’s one of my go-to technique when I want to create that watercolor look.

Let’s get started shall we!!! 😊

I wanted to add interest onto my card panel and the ‘You are Awesome‘ is the perfect stamp for the job! This is such a awesome stamp(pun intended 😉) for making your own unique background or using it as a focal point on your projects.

To create my background, I white heat embossed the scribbly circles focusing mostly on top of my panel.

I did a bit of ink blending using mustard seed distress ink. I then lightly sprayed the panel with clean water and with the help of a waterbrush moved the colors even more to achive that loose watercolor look. I added a bit of wild honey distress ink just to brighten the yellows more. Sprinkled yellows and purple to add more interest to the card.

Next I simply colored the cute little butterflies from ‘Spread your Wings‘ stamp with watercolor. I kept the colors simple and fun. I added a bit of shimmer and foam tape to give the butterflies a bit of dimension. I added the sentiment from the same set to complete the card.

Hope you all like today’s post!!! Till next time and happy crafting everyone😘

Hugs,
Rowena

Colourful triangle backgrounds with Rosali

Hi, Rosali here!

Today I want to show you two ways to make a coloured background the star of your design! I’m sure you all know how Maria’s stamp line started with her drawings of triangles and they are still some of my favorite images from her stamp designs! I was very excited when I held the “Awesome Triangle Wizard” background from the latest release in my hands for the first time and because I like it so much I chose it as my focus for this blog post!

For card no. 1 I use the ink smooshing technique. Which means, I smooshed some Distress Ink minis on a piece of laminated cardstock (you could also use a craft mat or an acrylic block), spritzed it with water and then tapped the heat embossed background panel into it several times holding it at different angles.

I dried the paper in between and tapped some more. After that I coloured some of the triangles with the leftover ink and a small brush. This method was inspired by a video by Kristina Werner, one of my favorite crafty Youtubers ever!

To keep the whole background visible I stamped my sentiment “You Are Awesome” from the same-named stamp set on vellum. A few sequins on top-finished!

On card no. 2 I tried out colouring with coloured pencils on black cardstock, something I wanted to do since I got my pencils! I saved up for a set of Luminance pencils earlier this year and they are supposed to look great on dark cardstock! 🙂

To get an idea of where to colour I stamped the center part of “Awesome Triangle Wizard” using a white pigment ink. In hintsight I would have used a second generation impression or a darker ink as some of the white ink showed through where I didn’t wanted it in the end. To fix it I went over these areas with a black marker, problem solved!

I chose the beautiful big “Happy” from “The Necessary One” and the small “Birthday” from “Monkey Madness” for my sentiment. I kept it in simple black and white to avoid drawing attention from my pencil colouring.

The triangle background took me about two hours to colour but all the different colours created a pretty unique look, don’t you think?

I hope you have an amazing day! ♥

YOU ARE AWESOME

When I saw You Are Awesome set, I wanted to create a galaxy background.
So, I grab my Gansai Tambi watercolor and paint galaxy background on 300gr watercolor paper.
Let it dry and then white heat embossed the doodle circle and stars from Star power set.
I finished off my card by added here and there some sequins.

Birthday cards with Dana

Hello, Krumspring friends!

It’s Dana here coming back with two birthday cards to share with you. Let’s get started!

For my first card, I started by white heat embossing the triangle background from Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp. I ink blended it with dye inks using mini blending tool. I then die cut it with letter dies. At this time, I saved negative pieces for next card 🙂

I heat embossed again with butterfly image from Spread Your Wings stamp set using gold tinsel embossing powder on vellum paper. I fussy cut it with scissors.

Next, I trimmed black card stock as shown in the picture. I then adhered glittery papers matching with front panel’s colors.

To finish, I mounted triangle panel on the white card base using glue tape and foam mounted black panels, too. Lastly, I embellished gem stickers around butterfly.

For second card, I combined Tou-can do it! stamp set and Funky Pineapples stamp set.

To start, I stamped toucan images with distress ink, Antique Linen two times onto different papers. I colored them with alcohol markers using no line technique. I then fussy cut the one of their wings and adhered it to the other toucan. Do you remember my very first DT card I made for Krumspring stamps? I think I love flying toucan! Haha.

I then die cut hearts in two sizes from white card stock and yellow-green vellum paper. I stamped pineapples using masking technique with Versafine Onyx black (line image) and dye inks (solid image). To vellum heart, I applied Wink of Stella brush. And I glued them each other like gift packet for toucan’s friend.

Next, I adhered silver glittery washi tapes each side of A2 sized white card base. I mounted watercolor look paper on it and arranged all pieces where I wanted them using foam adhesive and glue. To finish, I embellished clear sequins here and there.

Hope you enjoyed these cards! Have a happy weekend!

Love,
Dana

Funky Pineapples

Guest Designer Michelle Short – part 2

Hello there, Michelle here and I am delighted to be back sharing a card I have made with the Funky Pineapples set. What a fun set! It is so versatile and I love the designs on the pineapples.

I started off by stamping one of the pineapples on to a piece of white cardstock, using black ink. I coloured the pineapple using Copic Markers and then fussy it out using scissors. I took a piece of Bristol paper and blended over some Distress ink, spritzed with water and then once dry, I die cut it using a stitched square die. This was added on to a yellow 4.25” square card base with tape runner.

I took the ‘hello there’ sentiment from the Monkey Madness set and stamped it on to some black cardstock with Versamark Ink. I applied white embossing powder and then heat set. I cut the strip in to two with a craft knife. This was added to the card with foam tape. I then added the funky pineapple with a mini action wobble and added google eyes to him. It is difficult to see in the photos, but the action wobble gives the pineapple lots of dimension and it is so fun when it wobbles!

A big thank you goes to Maria and the Krumspring team for having me guest with them this month. I have really enjoyed it!

Best wishes,

Michelle

Superhero Madness with Maria

Hello there

I have been on a fun crafting spree this week and wanted to share it with you all 🙂

The “You Pixelate Me” really has a lot of opportunities hidden inside. Plus it is super easy to line up – with or without a MISTI, so you can keep expanding your images in size. For these cards I have stamped the image several times for each – I used the MISTI since I am a monkey in doing things straight 🙂

I began by finding an image with a lot of superheroes. I used this one for several images:

Found on Pinterest – source missing.

I created 8 cards with Batman, Superman, The Hulk, Thor, Loke, Spiderman, Captain America and Ironman.

Oh my – I had SO much fun with these. When I first got going, I just could not stop again. And I am still contemplating some more designs. I mean – Wonder Woman just came out, right!?

For me these are the perfect boys/men cards. I have my own superhero who I could gift all of these to 🙂 Ha ha…

Here is a closeup of all the cards:

Spiderman

I think the Spiderman card i my favourite. I was just in New York last month with my boyfriend, and every single time we turned a corner, he had a Spiderman scene for me.

Captain America

The caption says “Congratulations on your day” in Danish. I did Distress Ink stripes for the background and went crazy with my Nuvo drops.

Batman

I have been wanting to do a Batman card since Keeway guest designed in March.
I used the text from “For My Caveman” and wrote bat instead of cave.

Loke

These are just my colours – and that might have been my only reason for doing this figure in the first place since I had to check with Jacob who he was 🙂
I used text from “For My Sunflower” to create the sentiment. I just handwrote Villain.

Superman

I couldn’t leave out Superman, right? Love that silkyhair 🙂 Text is also from “For My Caveman“.

Iron Man

I can’t look at this card without beginning to sing “I am IRONMAN” in my head. Awesome song. The sentiment is Happy Birthday in Danish.

The Hulk

This card ended up a little funky green, sparkle, disco-ish. But I still like it. The text is from Monkey Madness.

Thor

Nordic Mythology (wohooo Scandinavia) and Thor. I so wanted to do a lightning behind him, but I could not make it work. So instead he got some clouds lol.

Well, that was a whole bunch of cards ! And I could keep them coming – I had som much fun 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this little superhero(and villain) installment.

Hugs
Maria

Pastel Queen – all about favorites / with Janni

Ohhhh Maria really did hit me right in the heart when she called me Pastel Queen, when she posted cards from my last post on Instagram ……Man am I proud <3 Thank you so much <3

Today I am going to show you some of my favorites…..my favorite copic color combo Peachy-Pink, R00-R01-R11-R12-R20-R22-R32-R42, and my all-time favorite Krumspringstamp `You Rock’.

For my first card I stamped ‘You Rock’, and the cute monkey from ‘Monkey Madness’ on Neenah crest cardstock, and colored up with my copics. I just love to color this heart, and it looks awesome in this color combo R00-R11-R12-R42. For the monkey I used W00-W1-W3, and E000-E01 for the tummy and face. After cutting them out, I added foam to the back.

For the background I used a creme colored structured cardstock, and used a die to make a frame, and added it to a back panel of light pink dotted cardstock. I placed my heart in the middle, and the monkey by the side, waiving out to say I gorilla like you. That sentiment is also from ‘Monkey Madness’ and I stamped that on a little banner of Neenah cardstock, and placed it above the heart. For the last finish I used ice cube jewels for a bit of sparkle. This card is so much me – pastel cutness.

My second card is also in the same color combo using R00-R11-R22-R32-R42 – this time I used the ‘Flamingo Fever’ flamingoes, they are just so beautiful. I used my scissors to cut them out and a scalpel for the details on the legs. I wanted to have the flamingoes in focus, so I stamped the sentiment from ‘You are awesome’ up in the left corner, added the flamingoes on foam, and then on the scalloped cardstock.

For the last touch I used some crystal sequins. Voila

I hope you liked my pastel post.

Hugs Janni

Guest Designer Michelle Short – Part 1

Hello there, my name is Michelle and I am delighted to be guest designing this month with Krumspring Stamps. Let me introduce myself a little, I am from London, UK. I have been card making for over 10 years now and my style can be defined as clean and simple. I first came across the owner of Krumspring, Maria, on Instagram. Those triangles really grabbed my attention! My card today uses the Monkey Madness set, along with the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp.

I started my card off by creating the background. I took the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp and inked this using Versamark Ink. I added white embossing powder to the ink and then heat set. I blended over various shades of pink and red Distress Inks and then spritzed with water. I set the piece aside to dry and then cut it down with a rectangle die.

I took one of the monkeys from the Monkey Madness stamp set and stamped this with black ink on to white cardstock. I took the ‘I love you’ sentiment from the set and stamped this inside the heart. They were then coloured using Copic Markers. I fussy cut the monkey out with scissors and then set about assembling the card.

I added the background panel to a black card base with foam tape. I then added a circle of vellum followed by the monkey (also added with foam tape). To finish off, I added black Nuvo Drops. I especially love the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp and I see myself using this a lot! That’s it from me today, see you next week!

Using Patterned Paper in your Cardmaking with Natalie

I started my papercrafting journey with scrapbooking. All those pretty papers and dimensional embellishments sucked me right in!

In more recent years I’ve also developed a real love-affair with stamps and cardmaking, but ironically it’s only just dawning on me now that I can actually combine the two ideas together! I can make cards using stamps as well as my scrapbooking supplies!

Once again I couldn’t help but start creating my new set of cards with those Funky Pineapples, and after colouring them in brightly I wanted some equally fun embellishments to compliment them.

I selected some patterned papers in pineapply colours (yellow, orange and green) – using one for a background layer, and a few other thin strips to add some interest. I topped it off with a shining gold flair button which was the perfect finishing touch.

My second card features the cute little gorillas from the Monkey Madness set. I was inspired by a card by fellow Dream-Teamer Rowena who had her gorillas holding balloons. I thought that was such a cute idea and I wanted to do something similar. Instead of stamping balloons I simply set my waving gorillas against a background patterned paper that includes a cluster of balloons in just the right spot!! YAY!

I also used some other embellishments from the same scrapbook collection to finish off my card, and it makes it so much more textural and dimensional than usual. I love it!

My last card was a stroke of inspiration when I caught sight of some fabric feathers in my stash, and I immediately imagined turning the circle wreath from the You Are Awesome set into a dream-catcher!

I started my card by stamping the circles at the top in two layers. The first is in white embossing, and was a little too subtle, so I did another layer with my favourite gold glitter embossing powder. I added the same gold to the ends of my feathers to make sure they would coordinate before hanging them off the dream-catcher with some pink embroidery floss.

I’m quietly very happy with how these cards turned out, and how they’ve combined my two favourite papercrafting disciplines. I definitely need to do more creating like this!
