I started my papercrafting journey with scrapbooking. All those pretty papers and dimensional embellishments sucked me right in!
In more recent years I’ve also developed a real love-affair with stamps and cardmaking, but ironically it’s only just dawning on me now that I can actually combine the two ideas together! I can make cards using stamps as well as my scrapbooking supplies!
Once again I couldn’t help but start creating my new set of cards with those Funky Pineapples, and after colouring them in brightly I wanted some equally fun embellishments to compliment them.
I selected some patterned papers in pineapply colours (yellow, orange and green) – using one for a background layer, and a few other thin strips to add some interest. I topped it off with a shining gold flair button which was the perfect finishing touch.
My second card features the cute little gorillas from the Monkey Madness set. I was inspired by a card by fellow Dream-Teamer Rowena who had her gorillas holding balloons. I thought that was such a cute idea and I wanted to do something similar. Instead of stamping balloons I simply set my waving gorillas against a background patterned paper that includes a cluster of balloons in just the right spot!! YAY!
I also used some other embellishments from the same scrapbook collection to finish off my card, and it makes it so much more textural and dimensional than usual. I love it!
My last card was a stroke of inspiration when I caught sight of some fabric feathers in my stash, and I immediately imagined turning the circle wreath from the You Are Awesome set into a dream-catcher!
I started my card by stamping the circles at the top in two layers. The first is in white embossing, and was a little too subtle, so I did another layer with my favourite gold glitter embossing powder. I added the same gold to the ends of my feathers to make sure they would coordinate before hanging them off the dream-catcher with some pink embroidery floss.
I’m quietly very happy with how these cards turned out, and how they’ve combined my two favourite papercrafting disciplines. I definitely need to do more creating like this!
