Beautiful Butterflies with Tina

Hi guys!
I am back on the Krumspring blog with some new inspiration for you – this time I dedicated my craftyness to the beauuuutiful stamp set called „Spread your wings“. I made two cards; one is on the clean and simple side and the other one is acutally made from leftovers of previous projects. I am sure you all know this: you start with a cards, you have some certain ideas in your head and in the end it looks completely different, LOL. So never, never throw away anything you might have created while your card making process, one day you will have the perfect occasion using it!

So let’s get started with my first card ☺

I heat embossed the butterflies onto vellum (120g/m2, quite heavy) with white embossing powder and fussy cut them out. Using a heavy vellum makes them nice and sturdy. So I diecut a stitched panel of craft cardstock and adhered both butterflies with gluedots underneath the body (this way, the gluedots won’t show off). Then I simply added a diecut „hello“ (I cut it out three times for a nice dimension) plus the word „beautiful“ (from the same set), also white heat embossed onto black cardstock and glued them onto the panel as well. Some white Nuvo drops finished off my very clean an simple card. It took me about 15 minutes to create it. I think although it’s CAS, it is still sweet and feminine. So if you are in a hurry lately, this might be a card you wanna try out! 😉

So we jump right to my second card which is made out of leftovers:

I made this pretty watercolor background for a previous card project and in the end I didn’t use it. I have a drawer full of things I began but never finished. So I grabbed for that panel because I thought the colors would be a nice background for my pretty vellum butterflies. To add more interest, I decided to diecut a frame out of glittery cardstock. I heat embossed the big „Happy“ in white and the small „birthday“ in gold. They are both included in the set „The Necessary One“. I added some sparkling sequins to imitate the trail of the smaller butterfly. As I already hat the watercolor panel, this card was also finished in about 20 minutes. It is always a highlight for me finishing a card in such a short time – I need more or less 3 hours for one card in the average ☺ ☺.
I hope you got inspired and give your leftovers a good home on a card very soon!
Have an amazing day! Hugs – Tina

Colourful triangle backgrounds with Rosali

Hi, Rosali here!

Today I want to show you two ways to make a coloured background the star of your design! I’m sure you all know how Maria’s stamp line started with her drawings of triangles and they are still some of my favorite images from her stamp designs! I was very excited when I held the “Awesome Triangle Wizard” background from the latest release in my hands for the first time and because I like it so much I chose it as my focus for this blog post!

For card no. 1 I use the ink smooshing technique. Which means, I smooshed some Distress Ink minis on a piece of laminated cardstock (you could also use a craft mat or an acrylic block), spritzed it with water and then tapped the heat embossed background panel into it several times holding it at different angles.

I dried the paper in between and tapped some more. After that I coloured some of the triangles with the leftover ink and a small brush. This method was inspired by a video by Kristina Werner, one of my favorite crafty Youtubers ever!

To keep the whole background visible I stamped my sentiment “You Are Awesome” from the same-named stamp set on vellum. A few sequins on top-finished!

On card no. 2 I tried out colouring with coloured pencils on black cardstock, something I wanted to do since I got my pencils! I saved up for a set of Luminance pencils earlier this year and they are supposed to look great on dark cardstock! 🙂

To get an idea of where to colour I stamped the center part of “Awesome Triangle Wizard” using a white pigment ink. In hintsight I would have used a second generation impression or a darker ink as some of the white ink showed through where I didn’t wanted it in the end. To fix it I went over these areas with a black marker, problem solved!

I chose the beautiful big “Happy” from “The Necessary One” and the small “Birthday” from “Monkey Madness” for my sentiment. I kept it in simple black and white to avoid drawing attention from my pencil colouring.

The triangle background took me about two hours to colour but all the different colours created a pretty unique look, don’t you think?

I hope you have an amazing day! ♥

Star Power Spotlight – part 2

Are you ready for the last spotlight post for this month!?

We are currently putting a spotlight on “Star Power“.

I wanted to end this spotlight with a little story:

  • Star Power is one of the first stampsets I ever did. I created it based on a doodling video I did in February 2016 which I got a massive response for (to me it was massive at least 🙂 ). The videos couldn’t be longer at than 15 seconds at that time. You can watch it here.
When I received my first delivery of stamps, I was just doing it because it was a big dream for me, and I just wanted to try it out. I was very nervous that it would crash and burn. I kept telling myself “This is just a hobby – I am doing it because I love stamps and have been mumbling about this for so many years”.
When I launched the stamps on August 20, 2016 I was SO nervous. I told my boyfriend “I don’t think I can do this – can you please press ´send´for me?”. I hadn’t slept all night and actually postponed it for an additional hour, because I was so nervous.
Well it turned out, I didn’t have any reason to be nervous. The Star Power stampset sold out within 5 hours of launching the stamps. I was completely stunned.
This stampset is still my all time bestseller, and I am eternally grateful that took the leap!
  • This is also a big THANK you to all of you. It was YOU who purchased the stamps and therefore YOU making my dream possible. Thank you from my heart.

Well enough with the sob stories (yes I feel a little emotional) – onto the awesome cards!

20 % discount is available until May 25 at midnight CET.

And now ! Onto the cards 🙂

Jannis colour choice never disappoints. This is just the most darling shaker card.

See that used Star stamp! Janni has made SO many amazing cards with the Star Power set. I really like how she combined the text from Tou Can Do It!

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this. Sharna and watercolors is always a perfect combination.

As a big yellow fan – this card is perfection for me 🙂 The congratulation text is from The Necessary One.

Guest Designer Niki – part 2

Hello, being a crafty who only ever creates cards with the recipient in mind, card designs can either come super easy or depending on the person, can never feel perfect enough. For this card I wanted to celebrate my friend who just accomplished her fund raising goals. I had jewel tones in mind and The One triangle at a time set from Krumspring Stamps was perfect.

I started out by stamping and heat embossing the One triangle at a time stamp onto watercolor card stock. I had envisioned a purple to gray ombre colour scheme. I used my Gansai Tambi’s to watercolor. I did two layers and allowed them to both dry completely before moving on. As my panel had warped a tad, I placed it under some heavy books for the night to straighten out.
Next up I choose a dark gray panel that was just a little larger than my stamped panel. I thought this would off set the light gray in the embossed piece. I had initially thought to use the large “congratulations” from The necessary one set, but I felt I needed the sentiment to be popped up to add dimension to a very flat card thus far.

So I changed my sentiment to the smaller “congratulations” in The Necessary One set and stamped it out on lighter gray cardstock. I was happy with the simplicity of the sentiment strip compared to the fussy background. I cut it the embossed panel and adhered it to the dark cardstock.

I finished up the piece with several sequins and clear dots and of course stamped my envelope to match.

A view of the full card:

Hope you enjoyed the making of this card, happy crafting!

Today we have the last bunch of cards highlighting the You Pixelate Me set! So many epic cards 🙂

This delicate soft card is just amazing. The background patterns are just waiting for you to get going. Happy Birthday text is from The Necessary One.

This card just makes me smile. That happy coffee cup is a real heartbreaker lol 🙂 You Bring Out The Best In Me text is from For My Sunflower.

Erica went all in and created 4!! cards for this spotlight. This heart is just amazing. She used text from For My Sunflower and You Pixelate Me.

You can easily stamp this image several times next to each other. Erica did this and created and intricate background. She also used the Dahlia in Yellow in the subtle shape of a heart. Text is from The Necessary One.

Use the stamp as a guideline for an endless number of patterns. Here Erica created two cards with the same pattern but changed the colour. It’s funny how big of a difference that makes right? Dude you are so old is the text that goes with the You Pixelate Me stamp and Happy is from The Necessary One.

Use the stamp as a guideline for an endless number of patterns. Here Erica created two cards with the same pattern but changed the colour. It’s funny how big of a difference that makes right? For this she used the text from The Necessary One as well.

Is your mind blown yet?! Mine sure is, and I also love seeing all the creative cards you all make with the stampset. I will do a feature post with some of  YOUR cards soon. Just share them under #krumspringstamps on Facebook and Instagram. I cannot wait to see your magic.

Guest Designer Niki – Part 1

Hi peeps!
Today I am excited to introduce this months guest designer Niki from Niki Bee Handmade 🙂 I love the simple elegance that Niki’s cards always contains! It requires a great sense of design to use whitespace and colours like she does – so I was thrilled when she accepted the invitation to become this months guest designer!

Making cards is a wonderful hobby, sharing them with others is where I find the most joy. I’m a 34yr old wife and mother to a sweet 5 yr old boy. When I started making cards a couple years ago, I did so as a way to connect with my friends and family who I lived a long way away from. It all started with Pinterest, cheap cardstock and buttons… so many buttons. I have zero artistic talent, so when I discovered stamping, a whole new world opened up to me. I finally found myself, I could be creative using other talented people’s designs and I could both share and be inspired by others using similar supplies. The community and friends I have made are what has made this hobby the joy it is now. People from all over the world creating and sharing kindness. This is my happy place.

I must admit, I was beyond chuffed when the owner of Krumspring Stamps asked me to do a Guest Design spot. Maria has grown a business that is so authentically her. Those triangles, geometry and clean lines are quintessentially what she was creating herself with a pen. I’m so honored to be able to create with her stamps.

As its Mothers Days this weekend, I instantly knew that I wanted to create with the Adventures Ahead stamp set with a bold background.
So I started off by creating two backgrounds, one a sun set scene and one a day time blue sky.
I masked two panels off and started ink blending. For the Blue background I used three blues inks to create an ombre effect, I masked this one off at three equal spaces and softly pounced the ink onto the cardstock.

After I ink blended the sunset panel, I took a stencil, spritz some water onto the rays and used a paper towel to dry off the excess followed by glossy texture paste to create sun rays.

Next I stamped out the hot air balloons from the Adventures Ahead set with my MISTI using versamark and heat embossed some platinum embossing powder.

Using the Distress Oxides I blended two to three colours on each Balloon. This is a super quick way to colour and its one of my most favorite. I spritz both with a shimmery mist. Once they were dry I fussy cut them out.

Once cut, I put them to the side while I stamped out the sentiment from The Necessary One set (brillant name!) on to both panels.

I used foam tape to mount the Hot air balloons to the background and finished up with a sprinkling of clear sequins and drops.

I loved creating these cards, these balloons will certainly be getting a work out in my craft stash as they are super versatile. Oh and of course I had to stamp a matching envelope!

I hope you enjoyed the making of these cards and happy crafting to you!
Cheers, Niki

Introducing New Dream Team Member Janni

Hi Peeps – happy saturday ! I am bringing some fun news to you all this lovely day – we have yet another Dream Team member 🙂 Woohooo! This time it is the lovely Janni who will be joining us!
Please share some love and welcome her.

How lucky am I – I just love Marias awesome stamps, and now I am on the Dream Team, can you believe it?

For my very first card I will share with you, I used the cool Hot Air balloon, and cloud from “Adventures Ahead” combined with the happy stamp from “The Necessary One”.

That Hot Air Balloon really makes me happy.
I stamped the images with Memento Tuxedo Black, and did my coloring with Copic Markers. I used grays for the airballon, because I wanted the clouds to me highlight of my card. The clouds are colored in peach, pink, prawn colors.
I am a big fan of scallop edges, and white cardstock, so I made a white die cut scallop background at first, and then added a white die cut layer using a stitched edge. I stamped Happy directly on the background and added letter stickers BE.

Next I fuzzy cut the hot air balloon and clouds, added a lot of foam to the back of the images. To create some more life to the card I used sequins in the same colors as the clouds.

For my second card I used this totally cute avocado mom-to-be from “Avocado Family” and made a white and green shakercard. Ohhh I love shakercards!
I stamped my image with Memento, and colored with Copic Markers, using the colors Milky white, lots of greens, added a little pink for the cheeks and brown for the stone. How cute is she?!

For the background I used my scallop die twice on white cardstock, and once on a foam sheet. I used a smaller die to make the shaker window, and added a sheet of acetate to the window. Before taping it all together I stamped the sentiment “You are one hot mama!” on the background, added a small portion of green and silver sequins to make the shaker. I didn’t want to take the focus away from the cute miss avocado, so I used a much smaller portion of sequins for this shaker.
I hope you liked my first posts for the Krumspring Dream Team – I can’t wait to make new cards to show you.

Guest Designer Mia Allerup

Today I want to introduce Mia, who did a inspiration demo in my booth during the Danish Convention I attended this weekend. I asked Mia if she would create a blogpost with her beautiful cards, and luckily she accepted 🙂

Hi all! My Name is Mia and i’m a lucky guest designer today here at Krumspring stamps ☺
First a little introduction of me I’m almost 30 years old, mom of two boys in the age of 2 and 4 years old and living together with my husband in a small town in Denmark. I have been scrapbooking more or less the last 10 years and tried almost all genres of this amazing hobby. Lately it has been project life and cardmaking with copic colouring that has taken my fancy.

I have known Maria (owner and creator of krumspring) for about 6 years now and I’m so happy to see her follow her dream and how well all of you have welcomed her and her stamps ☺
Well enough of the chitter chatter let´s get to the Cards!

Straight away when I saw the Adventures Ahead stamps, I was in love and I have already colored them many times as they are perfect for all kind of cards.

The first card I did was the one with the green air balloon.

For the cloud background I have used some smooth cardstock and my beloved distress inks. I made a stencil/mask with a cloud border die and then gently applied the distress ink to the cards base – slowly moving the mask to create the clouds. After this I took a die to create the card base and make it look a little nicer. I then took some velum and stamped with the text with The Necessary One stamp set and stazon.

I then Stamped the air balloon with Memento tuxedo black ink on some Neenah cardstock which is my favorite for copic coloring. As I wanted a good contrast and a more boyish color scheme I went with some green copics and just flicked the colors into each other.
As a finishing touch I covered the whole image with wink of stella clear glitter pen and some enamel dots around the background.

The second card I wanted a more feminine feeling so I once again took out my distress inks but this time I used some watercolor paper instead and I then used the ink smoshing technique. Ink smoshing means you take a sheet of plastic or packaging – put on a dab or two of the colour ink you want – spray it with a little water and then fold the plastic sheet with the ink and water ( on the inside of the fold) and mix ink and water – then you turn the and lightly fold the plastic out again so the ink and water is facing down the paper and tap on the colour as much or as little you wish and start playing ☺ Between each color let it dry a bit – in order for the inks not to end up too much a mess.
I have used 3 colours of ink on my card. Once completely dry I diecut the background into shape.
For the air balloon I did the same thing as on card one – I just chose some copic colours that would match my background ☺ For my sentiment I used the Danish Text set “Favorit Sæt“.

Put on some sequins and the card is done.
I hope you have enjoyed my cards and I hope you will try out the techniques as they are quite fun and easy but surely make a beautiful touch on a card ☺

Hugs, Mia

Baby card with Sharna

Hello there!

Sharna here today 🙂

I was so excited when a long time friend of mine told me she was pregnant with baby #2 who has been a loooong time coming. I will spare you the details but baby #1 was 16 years ago! So for this much anticipated baby I knew I needed a super sweet card. I picked up the Shoot for the Moon & the You Make Me Fly stamp sets and got to work.

I white heat embossed my chosen images onto some Tim Holtz watercolor paper. The key to this is to heat it just enough to melt the powder but not to long that it sinks into the watercolor paper. For the watercoloring of the images I used my favorite medium, distress inks. The sentiment is a die from Lawn Fawn combined with the baby stamp out of the sentiment set The Necessary One which has sentiments for a whole heck of a lot of occasions. Lastly I added a few star sequins to set the scene off. Oh and a bit of Wink of Stella in certain sections of the moon.

Have a great day!
