I started out by stamping up the flamingoes and the hearts in almost the same place as they are on the stamp storage sheet on Copic friendly card stock. After that I started colouring in the birds and the hearts with my Copic markers. I used slightly different shades of pink on the two birds to separate them a little bit, I made the male flamingo a bit darker and kept the female lighter as I didn’t want them to look exactly the same. The hearts I used a dark fuchsia for to really make them pop.
I wrapped a bit of gold thread around this piece to add some interest to the background before adding the panel with the birds on top of it using foam tape. Then I added the whole shebang to a white card base.
As this is a Valentine’s Day card it really had to say Happy Valentine’s Day on it. On a small label I cut out of vellum, I stamped the sentiment using white embossing powder. This label I adhered in the right corner so as to not cover up the flamingoes too much. It’s quite subtle as it’s white on white but I think it works. If you want it brighter, you can use a pink embossing powder or back the vellum with pink card stock.
For finishing touches I used both enamel accents in white AND sequins. Yep, I don’t tend to do things half ways, do I? Oh, if only there was a half crazed, madly cackling emoji to insert here, lol!
Well, that’s it from me for today but I hope this has inspired you to flamin-go and get yourself these stamps and make a cute Valentine’s Day card for your own love-bird.
Happy crafting and have a sweet day!
