And another fun part – she has a SURPRISE challenge for #krumspringfestival17!! And it’s a really fun one. I love this idea.

Challenge theme. “Think in thirds”.

Hello! Jessica here from All the Sparkle! I am so excited to be a guest for Krumspring Stamps this month and even more excited to help them celebrate Spring Festival 2017!

So, a little about me…I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with my incredibly supportive husband, two senior shelties, a tortoiseshell cat, and a senior bunny. I am a professional musician by day and a papercrafter by night (or really early morning)! I enjoy creating cards for my friends and family and I can often be found coloring a couple images or embossing a sentiment in-between lessons and gigs! I love experimenting with new techniques and mediums and I usually can’t resist adding a little extra sparkle to all of my cards and projects!!

I’ll be sharing cards several times this month but today’s card is also a surprise challenge! I’m challenging you to ‘think in thirds’…if that sounds confusing, keep reading, I’ll try to explain it better! 😉

When Maria asked me to think of a challenge I wanted to do something a little different…my favorite number is three and I realized that I tend to follow the rule of three and my cards often feature techniques, products, colors, groupings, etc. in threes. The rule of three suggests that groupings in threes are more visually appealing and more memorable. So for my card today I wanted to show how I used threes in my creation and challenge you to think in threes, too! First and most obvious, I stamped three trees at three different heights. But I also used three different gold mediums for my card: gold and gold tinsel embossing powder on my trees and metallic gold paint for the splatter. I contained my design to a third of the panel and I used three sequins! Finally I used three colors: black, gold, and white. Hopefully this gives you some ideas of how you could use threes in your creations and you certainly don’t have to use quite as many threes as I did! 😉

To create my card I stamped the tree from Happiness Overload onto masking paper and fussy cut it to create a mask. Then I stamped the tree on black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder. I placed the mask over the tree and then stamped the tree with versamark twice more on either side of the tree varying the height each time and then heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I stamped the star at the top of the center tree and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder. Next I mixed a little gold metallic paint with water and then splattered it over the card with a paintbrush. I stamped the sentiment from Happiness Overload onto white cardstock with versafine and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a label and adhered it to the card with foam mounting tape. Finally I used glossy accents to add three metallic gold sequins to finish the card!

I hope my card inspires you to think in threes and I cannot wait to see what you create for the challenge! Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!
