You can almost sense how hot this dinosaur from For My Caveman is, walking in the desert. Love how Rosali used the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp to create a scenic background too.

The Peacockness Peacock is PERFECT for summer cards. I really love the colours and hot background for this card, also using Awesome Triangle Wizard

Colourful triangle backgrounds with Rosali

Hi, Rosali here!

Today I want to show you two ways to make a coloured background the star of your design! I’m sure you all know how Maria’s stamp line started with her drawings of triangles and they are still some of my favorite images from her stamp designs! I was very excited when I held the “Awesome Triangle Wizard” background from the latest release in my hands for the first time and because I like it so much I chose it as my focus for this blog post!

For card no. 1 I use the ink smooshing technique. Which means, I smooshed some Distress Ink minis on a piece of laminated cardstock (you could also use a craft mat or an acrylic block), spritzed it with water and then tapped the heat embossed background panel into it several times holding it at different angles.

I dried the paper in between and tapped some more. After that I coloured some of the triangles with the leftover ink and a small brush. This method was inspired by a video by Kristina Werner, one of my favorite crafty Youtubers ever!

To keep the whole background visible I stamped my sentiment “You Are Awesome” from the same-named stamp set on vellum. A few sequins on top-finished!

On card no. 2 I tried out colouring with coloured pencils on black cardstock, something I wanted to do since I got my pencils! I saved up for a set of Luminance pencils earlier this year and they are supposed to look great on dark cardstock! 🙂

To get an idea of where to colour I stamped the center part of “Awesome Triangle Wizard” using a white pigment ink. In hintsight I would have used a second generation impression or a darker ink as some of the white ink showed through where I didn’t wanted it in the end. To fix it I went over these areas with a black marker, problem solved!

I chose the beautiful big “Happy” from “The Necessary One” and the small “Birthday” from “Monkey Madness” for my sentiment. I kept it in simple black and white to avoid drawing attention from my pencil colouring.

The triangle background took me about two hours to colour but all the different colours created a pretty unique look, don’t you think?

I hope you have an amazing day! ♥

Birthday cards with Dana

Hello, Krumspring friends!

It’s Dana here coming back with two birthday cards to share with you. Let’s get started!

For my first card, I started by white heat embossing the triangle background from Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp. I ink blended it with dye inks using mini blending tool. I then die cut it with letter dies. At this time, I saved negative pieces for next card 🙂

I heat embossed again with butterfly image from Spread Your Wings stamp set using gold tinsel embossing powder on vellum paper. I fussy cut it with scissors.

Next, I trimmed black card stock as shown in the picture. I then adhered glittery papers matching with front panel’s colors.

To finish, I mounted triangle panel on the white card base using glue tape and foam mounted black panels, too. Lastly, I embellished gem stickers around butterfly.

For second card, I combined Tou-can do it! stamp set and Funky Pineapples stamp set.

To start, I stamped toucan images with distress ink, Antique Linen two times onto different papers. I colored them with alcohol markers using no line technique. I then fussy cut the one of their wings and adhered it to the other toucan. Do you remember my very first DT card I made for Krumspring stamps? I think I love flying toucan! Haha.

I then die cut hearts in two sizes from white card stock and yellow-green vellum paper. I stamped pineapples using masking technique with Versafine Onyx black (line image) and dye inks (solid image). To vellum heart, I applied Wink of Stella brush. And I glued them each other like gift packet for toucan’s friend.

Next, I adhered silver glittery washi tapes each side of A2 sized white card base. I mounted watercolor look paper on it and arranged all pieces where I wanted them using foam adhesive and glue. To finish, I embellished clear sequins here and there.

Hope you enjoyed these cards! Have a happy weekend!

Love,
Dana

Awesome Triangle Wizard

Guest Designer Michelle Short – Part 1

Hello there, my name is Michelle and I am delighted to be guest designing this month with Krumspring Stamps. Let me introduce myself a little, I am from London, UK. I have been card making for over 10 years now and my style can be defined as clean and simple. I first came across the owner of Krumspring, Maria, on Instagram. Those triangles really grabbed my attention! My card today uses the Monkey Madness set, along with the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp.

I started my card off by creating the background. I took the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp and inked this using Versamark Ink. I added white embossing powder to the ink and then heat set. I blended over various shades of pink and red Distress Inks and then spritzed with water. I set the piece aside to dry and then cut it down with a rectangle die.

I took one of the monkeys from the Monkey Madness stamp set and stamped this with black ink on to white cardstock. I took the ‘I love you’ sentiment from the set and stamped this inside the heart. They were then coloured using Copic Markers. I fussy cut the monkey out with scissors and then set about assembling the card.

I added the background panel to a black card base with foam tape. I then added a circle of vellum followed by the monkey (also added with foam tape). To finish off, I added black Nuvo Drops. I especially love the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp and I see myself using this a lot! That’s it from me today, see you next week!

Release Inspiration with Janni

YAY for release 6, it is so awesome – it really makes me smile and think of summer, good vibes and lots of fun!

I actually made 9 cards while I waited for release week – that’s crazy, and it shows how much I love the new stamps. I picked out 3 cards for this post, and the rest you well get to see on Instagram in a few days.

How cute are these gorillas, I love them! I just had to make a card where the gorillas were in focus. I started by stamping the sentiment in the center of my favorite coloring cardstock, and then I stamped the little cuties all around it. When I was satisfied with the number of gorillas I ran it through my cutting machine using one of my favorite background dies. I used my copic markers to color them up, and decided to give them cute little tummies. Then I added some grass under their feet to add some color to the scene, and the little heart got some green to. To frame it all up I added a light brown cardstock, on top of a darker brown scallop background.

No post from me without a pastel colored card right. What do you think about these pineapples, aren’t they awesome (even in pastels). I stamped the pineapples and used my scissor to cut them out, and then added my absolute favorite pastels colors. These funky pineapples are so cool to color. I found the pastel palm leaf cardstock in my stash, and it just fits perfect for this scene. I used a white and pale green cardstock to make the background. The sentiment is stamped directly on the card, before I added the white circle to center the awesome pineapples.

This is truly funky – I used a lot of colors on this card, and that’s really new to me. This stamp has so many possibilities, and I know I am going to use this as a background for many of my card. I stamped the image to my favorite coloring cardstock, and added 7 different greens and two yellows in a funky pattern, and added some shades on some of them. Then I used my cutting machine to make it the right size for my card. I then used my cloud edges dies and cut the cardstock into 4, to make it even more funky and alive. Before adding them to the white cardstock I stamped the sentiment ‘For my ultra funky friend’ and ‘Happy Birthday’ in the center of the paper. I used a black background to frame it up, and added the sparkling silver scallop background.

Those pineapples are so awesome, so had to use one for this card to, and I colored it up in the same greens and yellows as the card, and added a little pink splatter (makes it pretty authentic right?) I finished the card up, using silver sequins, black and silver stones.
I hope you will love the new release as much as I do.
Hugs

Release Inspiration with Erica

Hello! Erica on the blog today with a few (cough, cough) cards using the new release from Krumspring Stamps! Who else is excited about these adorable images?? Not many days until they are all available in the shop so get ready because they aren’t going to last long!

I was really drawn to the Awesome Triangle Wizard stamp, ah the possibilities I pictured in my head. It was all going on, it was almost too many ideas to pick one out! BUT instead of diving right in and just colour without a set idea I put that one aside and picked up the You Are Awesome set instead as I right away got an idea of making a few cards using a sketch (which admittedly was just in my head) and different colours to show how easy it is to achieve fun cards without changing much other than the colour scheme.

With this in mind I started out by stamping the big scribble circle on a small stitched rectangle panel in teal coloured card stock, which was also embossed with a star pattern, and then I heat embossed it in silver. Teal and silver goes so well together I think.

For the background panel I cut out a slightly larger, scalloped piece in silver glitter card stock. The dies I used for all the panels for these cards are the ‘Femme Frames’ from Mama Elephant.

Sentiment wise I went with one from the You Are Awesome set, ‘You are Awesome’, which I stamped and heat embossed in the same silver embossing powder as the circle, on a strip of vellum. This I wrapped around the smallest panel and adhered to the back of it. For this first card I used some Mermaid coloured card stock from Lawn Fawn for the case base to keep with the colour scheme and all bits are adhered to each other with foam tape of various thickness.

I channeled my inner Krumspring gal and went to town with embellishments in silver, teal and mint green. This card is a bit of a bling-fest but I have no regrets, I think a card that tells someone they are awesome can’t be bland and boring. Am I right or am I right?? 😜

My second card is made exactly the same way as the first one, just with different colours. The front panel is rescued from a water colour experiment that unfortunately ripped a bit when I peeled the masking tape off. It was big enough for this size die though which was lucky. I hate wasting crafty stuff.

The third card was a big challenge for me as I decided to use lots of white space. This is not a strength of mine.. and I have no idea why I torture myself like this at times?! It didn’t turn out too bad in the end but I couldn’t resist adding a bit of purple Distress Oxide ink along the edges of the scalloped panel. I also went way overboard with the enamel accents but eh, at least they are white. It also got a very generous sprinkling of clear sequins but no crystals on this one.

The fourth card is slightly different in that it has silver washi tape wrapped over the top and bottom edge and the sentiment is on a banner rather than vellum. This one was nearly thrown in the bin as things went all kinds of wrong with it. After I had heat embossed the circle in white I decided to sprinkle some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink on it but it looked whishy-washy and not very opaque. I tried rescuing it by blending some ink directly to the panel but that did nothing to help the look so I thought maybe adding some Worn Lipstick would help but oh no.. it just made things worse! Ack! I put it to the side for the night and decided to look at it in the morning again. The next day I looked at it with fresh eyes and decided to try something else and all of a sudden it kind of came together! This is not my favourite card by any stretch but my mother loved it, which just goes to prove that we all like different things. I finished it off with clear sequins and crystals and that was it.

Four cards with very different colour scheme to cater to different people’s preferences and likes. They are also reasonably quick to make, especially once you decide on a sketch or a look, and by switching out the sentiment you can make thank you’s, birthday cards and even invitations.

For my next two cards I had to use the MONKEY MADNESS stamp set! Those gorillas goreally are so cute and the one sitting down cradling a heart, stole my heart right away! So many puns here… 😉

I decided to do two cards with the same basic design but opposite colouring. For the first one, I stamped the gorilla on masking paper first and fussy cut that out and set aside. Step 2 included cutting out an A2 sized panel also in masking paper and, using the panel as a guide, I cut out a heart shape using a die where I wanted the heart placed on my card.

On card no1 I placed the masking paper with the heart shaped hole on a pre-cut panel of white card stock and then stamped the gorilla where I wanted him in the heart. Using the gorilla shaped mask, I covered him up and got my red Distress Inks out. Unfortunately I forgot that the panel was Copic friendly card stock, and not so much ink blending friendly. I ended up having to dab the distress ink all over the heart shape instead of smoothly blending it into the card stock. Really annoying BUT it actually ended up looking quite nice not being super smooth in the end. HA! *fist bump*

Peeling off the masks are always such a thrill, I can’t quite put my finger on why that is but it’s like magic appearing on your card as you watch it peeling away. Yep, I am a nerd. Can’t help it so I’m gonna roll with it.

Originally I had planned on colouring the monkey in but I decided against that at the last second. I even had my Copic marker poised and ready to go but just as I was about to touch the paper I changed my mind. Roller-coaster crafting or what?! The monkey needed a little something though so I added pink cheeks, ears and a few dots on his feet. He also got a sentiment added, ‘You are My favorite’, which fits perfectly in the heart and I LOVE that! I also stamped ‘I goreally like you’ at the bottom of the card because I am apparently incapable of leaving too much white space. However, is anyone else noticing that there isn’t a single sequin on this card??? I know, worrying isn’t it? 😜

Righty-o, on to card no2!

Here I basically did the opposite of what I did on card no1 and this time I remembered to use water colour card as I planned on using the same colour Distress Ink. I simply cut an 8.5″x11″ piece of Ranger Ink card stock in half and scored it using a score board then I placed the heart shaped mask on it and blended away with the red ink.

On Copic colour friendly card stock I stamped the same gorilla and colured him in using Copics (shocker) and then fussy cut him out. I adhered him to the card base using foam tape and then stamped the sentiment ‘Hello there cutie’. I should have left it there but being me… I stamped some small heart shapes inside the big heart in the same red ink as I blended around the edges. At this point I finally managed to rein myself in, a bit late seeing as the whole idea behind these cards was that there were going to be quick and simple. Which admittedly isn’t my strong suit at all. I really must work on that. Another time though.. Later, definitely. Maybe.. if I don’t have pretty sequins that are screaming at me to use them. Which is entirely possible as my sequins are such loud-mouths and are always jumping onto my cards. Rude, eh? ☺

Well, that’s it from me for today. I hope these cards have inspired you to snap up a set or two (or all of the new ones #nojudgement) See you later in June for my next post!

Happy crafting from Erica

Release Inspiration with Rosali

Hi, Rosali here!
How are you today? I hope your day is a good one!! As I type this and look back at the cards I created with all the new stamps I can’t help but smile-this is just such a happy, summer-y release! ☺ I guess that’s why I chose some bright colours to go with the new stamp images!
I have three cards to show you today and they are all quite different from each other but I hope you’re gonna like them all. Now let’s get started! This is my first card:

Just one single stamp set can be more than enough to create a card-especially if it’s a clean and simple one with a graphical design like mine!
I stamped the fun circle image from “You Are Awesome” in four different colours across the borders of my die cut panel. For the sentiment I chose “You are going to rule the world” in that beeeeautiful new font!! Can’t tell you how much I love that font, hah! To finish off the CAS design I added some of the little star images and put a dot in the center of each one with a pearl maker pen. You could also use Nuvo Drops or Perfect Pearls instead.

Now onto the second card! Honestly, this is my favourite … but let’s not tell the other cards, okay? 😉

I stamped and heat embossed the new “Awesome Triangle Wizard” background onto watercolour paper and put some watercolour on top. I chose blue as a complementary colour to make my mainly yellow “Funky Pineapples” really pop! For the pineapples themselves I used Distress Inks and a very loose watercoloring technique with two layers of ink. Love how it turned out! As I send out mostly birthday cards I chose the small “Happy Birthday” from “Monkey Madness” as my sentiment. It has the perfect size if you don’t want to draw attention from your focal image!

For my third card I of course had to use one of the adorable gorillas from “Monkey Madness”! I am determined to get better at no-line colouring so that’s what I did! I used a very light dye ink for stamping and then Copics as my colouring medium.

On the background panel I stamped “Oh yes!” from “You Are Awesome” repeatedly in a light blue ink and then used die cuts to create a little scene on the front.
Thanks for reading all the way, you are awesome!! ♥
